Recently, meeting with Planning Minister Justin Madden, Mary Drost discussed with him his refusal to accept Boroondara Council’s excellent plan for the Henly Honda site at Camberwell Junction, while at the same time his staff were having couriered out a letter to her announcing his intervention in the  VCAT  hearing about it.  But he failed to mention his letter to her!!!

A few days later  on the  first VCAT hearing day, the Minister  was represented by a high powered Barrister who   read out a submission for him which said that  the 15 storey tower and two 9 storey buildings were ‘entirely appropriate for this location’ and would ‘establish a benchmark for the future’ of this area and were in line with  M2030, totally supporting the development.

What has happened to democracy?  This is  soviet style ‘top down’ planning.    Wait until developers about hear this, they will be rushing to Melbourne and there  will be towers everywhere.
